encountered some unhappy stuffs at work and after work today. well not really me but some people around me. but still i think it's worth blogging about.
this afternoon my colleague had a quarrel with one of her candidates. according to my colleague, apparently her candidate sent in a fake resume - one that's full of false information. and when my colleague had an interview with this candidate somehow she managed to 'smoke' her way through. and fortunately (or unfortunately - you decide) this candidate managed to make it for the interview. but obviously she couldnt pass that round cus when the interviewers asked her about her capabilities as stated inside the resume sent.
so she didnt make it but that's not the end of the story. the representatives from the company called up my colleague and scolded her for sending in a fake resume. but it wasnt her fault so she called up her candidate. instead of apologising for her mistake she started scolding my candidate.. saying stuff like "why cant i post a fake resume? what makes you think that others won't post fake resumes so as to boost their profiles better?" which is obviously ridiculous. with that it sparked off a quarrel between my colleague and her candidate. and apparently i heard stuffs like "if you dont help me find a job im going to sue you and your company for being unprofessional" or something along that line.
come to think of it, i think her candidate was being very unprofessional and irresponsible and selfish in writing up a fake resume. i think it's all about work ethics - if you have a low qualification/lack of experience you have to be contented in a getting a lower-paying job. of course you'll be lucky in getting one with higher pay but if it's not as high as expected you have to take it in. just work and gain the experience and with that ask for one with higher pay. anyway, by writing a resume that 'overpowers yourself, you are susceptible to ruining the company's reputation and credibility. and blaming the consultant? it's just too ridiculous.
another incident after work - was boarding the train back home (sidenote: i shouldnt have taken the train with huiling and yunlu.. waste my time. didnt even manage to sleep in the train and had to alight at yishun to change train) when there was these 2 young kids screaming away in the carriage. think the mother was trying to hush the kids but to no avail. then came this man who started screaming at the mother .(im sure he was screaming - could hear him at the other side of the carriage..) something like "do you know how to discipline your kids?! they are causing a din in the train. i am paying for public transport. i deserve the personal rights to have peace and quiet in the train. and with your kids im losing the personal rights that i have in this free country. so i demand that if you cant get your kids to be quiet you have to leave this train and board the next one!"
ridiculous isnt it. immediately he was booed by many of the commuters in the train. the train is a public transport. he gets to enjoy it. so do others. if others are willing to compromise and accomodate, why cant he? after these 2 kids are only 2 to 3 years old i think. they are still very young. it's pretty understandable. if he really wanted peace and quiet and all those stuff about enjoying public transport, i would recommend him to book 1 train all by himself, or i would sacrifice my money to buy earplugs for him. alternatively i would recommend him to get out of that train and take the next train or something. and ironically while he was scolding the mother, the only noise that seemed to irritate everyone was not the voices of the kids but his. think he shld play a part in helping the rest to enjoy their trips in public transport and simply stfu.
anyway i managed to watch warlords after so long with alvin and cj. poor thing mathew wasnt around and anthony was sick. was a show worth my $6. not to say all the gore, blood and death and stuffs. but rather the way the film was shot and the plot itself. how 3 pple became brothers through an oath which seemed flawed in my opinion. and how ironic that the oath, which was the motivation for them to fight together and emerge victorious became the crux of the souring of the brotherhood and eventually the death of the 3 of them with the female character. really thought-provoking and if anyone jios me to watch this show again i dont mind.
