it's hard to get your morale high when:
- you are posted to a unit that is still in the same old camp and you have to take 1+ hr just to reach the guardroom.
- you are going to lead a section who are more experienced than you are, be it in weapon systems, driving, etc.
- you are stuck in a place where 3SG is still one of the lowest life-forms availabe there, instead of the "pressure forward" unit where 3SGs are supposedly kings.
- your unit is turning ops on november and all the 4NTMs* (4-hr Notice To Move) are coming up.
* 4NTM means that once the button is pressed, everyone has to be back in camp and get ready for war in 4 hours time.
- you as a 3SG still have to cheong alot with your men. it's not like you havent cheonged enough when you were in SOA.
- you are subjected to alot of extras which burns your weekend.
- your RSM is fierce and has high expectations of his soldiers.
- there's IPPT and SOC the next week and u have just caught a bad flu. you cant do anything with all the runny noses, itchy and sore throats, all the stupid bodyaches.
- you are fighting ATEC next year. which means even more outfield.
- you are going to be stuck at sungei gedong, not just for the rest of the 2 years, but also in the future 10 years to come.
of course, being specs, life is abit better than we were trainees back then.
imagine:
- 3 consecutive nights off.
- waking up just to consume breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- no neccesity to march around the campus.
- more freedom, OTOT canteen breaks.
that's life for me in 42.
the cutting edge.
